Jerome’s own Gary Krumm has chosen to be yelled at for a different reason.
Mr. Krumm started out at as head coach for Jerome football in 2006. In 2008, he led his team to a second place title in the 4A conference.
After four years, Gary no longer was coaching for Jerome football. Gary became a referee shortly after his coaching career. Mr. Krumm had some very good reasons as to why he chose not to coach. He said, “I loved the coaching and I enjoy the other side of it too. When both my parents were very sick I knew I needed to tend to them. After they passed away I wasn’t in a big hurry to get back into coaching. I’ve enjoyed the extra free time, but I miss the good kids and big wins, no doubt.”
Many people see him as a great coach and person. Coach Sid Gambles says, “Coach Krumm is one of the most influential coaches I have been around. He’s a super smart coach that knows his X and O’s. He is also a good motivator. One great strength is his ability to know what’s going on in the program. He does it his way, and everyone that gets in line will be rewarded. He has had a ton of success to back it all up. He’s coached at a lot of different places with some really good wins. He’s definitely a Magic Valley coaching legend.”
Gary was also a coach for basketball and baseball. He said he refereed all three in high school. He now referees these sports.
Gary now resides in Jerome as a High School physical education instructor.
