Clubs can be a source of friends and experience in the world, or simple fun in high school. Often, they have lasting impressions on their members and help them to succeed in life. But if you’re like me, you don’t really want to be a part of the bigger clubs or organizations like FFA and Speech. For those people, here are a few more under the radar clubs that might interest you.

Ultimate Frisbee Club

The first thing you should know about the Ultimate Frisbee club is that it’s a club to have fun in and relax, says club head Mr. Peterson. It’s has a “laid back atmosphere” he says, and that  “everyone here… is just here to have a good time and no one takes it too seriously.” If you want a club that’s simple and isn’t too stressful, try the Frisbee Club.

Student Horticulturists Restoring Urban Botany, or S.H.R.U.B. club, is all about gardening. Specifically, according to member Brooklyn Gibbons, by “helping with garden work and keeping our community clean”. You can have fun, make friends and feel good about helping the look of the area all at once.

Chess Club

Though chess club obviously is about playing chess, it can be more than just fun and games. You can, of course, just play a game with friends, but the club has a accomplished history in competitions as well. It’s important to note that the club has “two consecutive trophies for winning the high school division of the state team chess tournament” and had “7 students qualify for the state individual tournament last year.”, says club leader Mr. Black. Whether you’re in it for a good time or serious competition, chess club is open and welcoming to new members.
