April 24th was a very emotional day for the Jerome Lady Tigers since it was the last home game of the conference season for the two seniors, Vivi Ortega and Payton Miller. The Lady Tigers took on the Minico Lady Spartans.

The first game the Lady Tigers jumped on the Spartans scoring two runs in the first inning. Senior Payton Miller had a solo home run to start off the day. Almost every inning besides one the Lady Tigers scored one or more runs. Ending the game with a run rule in the 5th inning with a walk-off grand slam by junior Abriana Hurtado. Payton Miller was on the mound giving up only 3 runs. Tigers defeated the Spartans 13-3 in the first game.

In between games was the emotional part of it all. Senior Night. All of the parents and players gathered all the gifts as they get ready to hand them out. But before they got started Munroe announced the Minico seniors, they had 9. After all that it was time for Jerome’s seniors to get announced. First Payton then Vivi, both thanking their coaches and family. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many parents cry for the seniors who are leaving until now” said Vivi. “I’ll definitely miss all of these girls and parents.” both of the girls stated. As tears were wiped away it was time to get rollin’ with the next game.

The second game was a rough game. The Lady Tigers were struggling. Error after error for the Tigers left the Spartans hanging around with them. Lady Tigers would score then the Spartans would come back and score on errors. Many free bases were also given up throughout the game, but the Tigers managed to pull out with the win. Final score was 13-10 ending in the 7th inning.
