Tigers Take Down the Riverhawks ¨These kids are hungry, motivated, and know what's at stake.¨ - Scott Burton, Jerome High School’ s Athletic Director.

Jerome High School- Last Friday, September 25, 2020, the Jerome Tigers took down the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks in a conference win. Nathan Parsons, running back, came alive and left the game with over 100 rushing yards. 2R Media and Maxpreps named him as player of the game. 

The first half of the game was a shut out by the Jerome Tigers, holding Canyon Ridge to zero and having 20 points in their name. By the end of the game, Canyon Ridge finally landed 7 points on the board but Jerome ended with 55, making this game a blowout. 

Quarterback Dalan Thompson threw five touchdowns. ¨Shoutout to the offensive line for opening huge holes for the running backs and giving Dalan plenty of time to find open receivers.¨ commented 2R Media. Dalan completed 9 of 17 passes for a total of 167 yards. Five of these 9 passes resulted in touchdowns, including a 39 yard and 19 yard touchdown to Gavin Capps, Junior wide receiver. 

The Tiger’s running backs carried the ball 25 times for a total of 308 yards rushing. This is double compared their rushing yards in games against Shelley and Twin Falls. Senior running back Kyle Craig had 6 carries against the Riverhawks for 49 yards. One of these carries resulted in a touchdown. Nathan Parsons, senior running back, came alive and left the game with over 100 rushing yards. One of his carries was a 51 yard touchdown run. 2R Media and Maxpreps named Parsons “Player of the Game. “

Defense played a large role in the Jerome Tiger win. The Tiger defense held the Riverhawks to 245 total yards, compared to Jeromes 475 total yards. The Jerome defense had 70 total tackles, 37 of which were solo tackles. The defense was also able to sack Canyon Ridge’s quarterback three times. Jerome also recovered two fumbles and made two interceptions. 

Senior Ruberto Martinez contributed to the game with his extra point kicks. Marinez made 6 extra point kicks adding 6 points to the scoreboard. Martinez’s extra points stats are now 9 made out of 12 attempts. 

Jerome looks to take on Mountain Home this Friday night in the battle of Tiger versus Tiger. This will also be Senior night for football players, cheerleaders, dancers, and band members. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support of that the student body theme will be pink out. So students of Jerome High School, make sure to support the cause and when you come to support your team wear pink.
