Vaccine Polls

Vaccine+Polls

Jerome, Idaho -, Now that the election is done there has been news about the new Coronavirus vaccine. Vaccines on their own don’t sit right with people, such as anti vaxxers that don’t want to let their kids get some vaccine for some reason. We asked some questions to Jerome High School students to see if they would take the vaccine or not and this is what they said. We asked Kyonha Rue, Levi Lockett, Emme Stuckman, Maggie Shepard, and Drake Driscoll

We first asked them if they would take the vaccine when it comes out. Our first person we asked was Maggie if she would take the vaccine and her response was ¨ Yes I would take the vaccine if I needed it.¨ Then we asked Kyonha and she said ¨ Personally I would take the vaccine because I just know how badly it could affect others and their family members and if that was me and one of my family members it could affect badly I would want people to take the vaccine.¨ We asked Emme and she responded with ¨ If I had the option to, I personally would take the vaccine.¨ Our next person we asked was Levi and he said ¨ I wouldn’t just because I’ve had it before and it doesn’t really do anything anymore.¨ Drake responded with ¨ Yes I would, the vaccine will be proven to help getting the virus, getting sick from it, and spreading it. I side with science on whether or not it works, so if doctors say it works then I will take the vaccine.¨

The next question we asked them if they think it should be mandatory and this is what they said. Maggie responded with ¨ I think it shouldn’t be mandatory but it should be highly considered.¨ We asked Kyonha and she said ¨ I don’t think it should be mandatory just because I know how controversial covid 19 could be so it would just bring more conflicts up in the world.¨ Emme responded with ¨ I only think that the vaccine should only be mandatory depending on the situation, like say your area has a high rate of covid cases then yes I believe it should be mandatory but if not then there is really no need for it to be mandatory.¨ Levi responded with ¨ I don’t think it should be mandatory.¨ Drake said ¨ I don’t think it should be mandatory because people still have a choice. Some dont believe or agree with vaccines so why should they have to take it? You don’t force an atheist to believe in God.¨

The last thing we asked was if they think employers should pay for the vaccine and this was their answer. Maggie said ¨ Yes if employers want their employees to be vaccinated they should pay for it.¨ Kyonha responded with ¨ I think employers should pay for it if they expect others to still work even while it affects others and if it could affect their employees badly¨ Emme responded with ¨ I don’t think employees should have to pay for the vaccine, if they have to work during these times, then the vaccine should be free.¨ Levi responded with ¨ Employers should pay for it to keep stuff open more¨ Lastly Drake responded with ¨ I think if the company requires it then yes they should provide the pay for the vaccine, if not then it is an individual choice to pay and get it.¨
