Dude, Be Nice

Dude, Be Nice

Valentine’s Day can leave people feeling lonely, but with Dude Be Nice there’s always a welcoming atmosphere. Dude Be Nice is a project made by the faculty in the Jerome School District. It centers around sending kind messages via small pieces of paper handed out by students and faculty. These small messages can be signed or sent anonymously. Dude Be Nice letters are rather similar to tradition Valentine’s Day cards.

Handwritten Valentine’s Day cards became popular in the mid 1800s. These cards were exchanged between friends and lovers as small tokens of affection. By the 1900s, printed cards took over the market, and it seems that printed cards had a heavier focus on romance rather than friendship. Dude Be Nice reflects an 1800’s style of Valentine’s Day, where confessions could either be platonic or romantic.

Letters sent through Dude Be Nice can help boost confidence. These kind messages could make someone’s day and help improve their self image. For people unsure about how to approach someone, Dude Be Nice is a way to reach out. For others wanting to send a nice note to a friend or significant other, Dude Be Nice is there. Folks who want to confess feelings (as is common in February) these little slips of paper can allow you to express your emotions in a condense manner.
