Idaho news- Dispatcher Helps Save a Life

Bingham County- A dispatcher, Layton Powell helped save a life after a man called and reported his wife was unconscious and struggling to breath. The dispatcher then helped the man perform CPR. Layton showed much courage and patience. She showed the man how to handle the situation and helped save the womans life. She was then conscious when the ambulance arrived.

Layton Powell sayed, “I told him we needed to start CPR, and I guided him into performing CPR. I counted out chest compressions with him, and we did that until the QRU arrived at which time they took over and the call ended.”. Layton went above and beyond to help save this womans life. She helped the man through all the steps and it payed off.

“Shelley QRU Chief (Lyle) Barney arrived on scene and stated the patient was awake and talking to him by the time she was being loaded into the ambulance. Barney stated the patient had been in full cardiac arrest and if Powell hadn’t instructed the husband on CPR and done such a great job at it, the patient would not have lived. He stated that Powell truly saved her life.”

Layton had been very patient and had the situation well under control. If she hadn’t acted and showed the husband how to preform CPR the woman wouldn’t of made it. This shows how you should not doubt yourself and you should act on things before it is too late. Layton shows much courage, patience, compassion, and encouraging attributes. We are grateful for people like this in our world. Be a the good in the world and don’t try to cause trouble.
