Two reported dead and 5 injured including the suspect during a shooting at a mall in Boise Idaho on Monday, October 25, 2021. Around 1:50 pm Chief Ryan Lee responded to reports of shots being fired at the mall. Many students at Jerome have been talking about it. People present during the shooting are still frightened and scared. Names of the suspect and victims were recently released.

Monday afternoon at the Towne Square Mall in Boise, Idaho there was an active shooter that left four injured, including a police officer, and two civilians dead. The dead were pronounced dead and the death toll had risen to five, though everyone else is suspected to survive. Shortly after the shooting, according to KTVB the suspect was identified as 27-year-old Jacob Bergquist. He is known to the police for previous crimes he has committed. The shooting was devastating not only for the victims, and at the mall but also to the community. The mall was closed Tuesday for reasons of respect and investigational purposes.

We interviewed the students and faculty to hear their opinion on the situation. Mrs. Halterman has a lot to say. She stated that it makes her feel horrible because she has been through this before. So when things like this happen it hits her a little harder. It angers her to hear that someone would even think about doing something like that. She just doesn’t understand why someone would do something like that. Karlee last felt sad after hearing about what happened in boise. As a child it didn’t really affect how she continued her life. If she were able to talk to the suspect she would ask why he did it. If she would have to guess she would think that maybe he went through some stuff and wanted to cause pain for others. Mrs. Newbry said that this whole situation is scary and it seems to feel unreal.
