Jerome High School’s soccer team headed to state this past week taking 3rd overall. Jerome is a very popular spot for soccer players. The varsity boys played throughout the course of three days playing their bracket for state winners. Going undefeated the boys won 13 games and lost only 1 at state during overtime.
Senior Nick Reynaga states that he felt confident about going to state suggesting it was his 3rd year making it. Reynaga’s biggest accomplishment for his last high school season was learning how to control the ball and being able to help others learn the sport of soccer. “The most memorable moment of this season was being district champs again,” said Nick. He really enjoyed going to state and being able to help others play and improve.
Senior Izaiah Nevarez said he’s sad the season is over but he’s looking forward to playing soccer in college. He stated the most memorable moment of this season was making it to state and placing third. He felt that going to state showed him and his team’s effort. His biggest accomplishment this season was helping out his team and improving how to keep the ball under control.
Senior Mervin Ruiz declared that he wished the team did a little better this season, but he was happy with them winning state and the past four years for him were very fun and memorable. He also said he’s sad it’s his last year playing with his friends but he really enjoyed playing with them all through high school. This being his last year, he was very happy they had the opportunity to go to state and win third place. This was also his third year going to state. This season Mervin’s biggest accomplishment was making this season the best season, and being a better player overall. This season he worked a lot on saving the ball and getting scored on less. Mervin was happy with their games this year.
